The predecessor of Zhejiang
Financial Professional
College –Zhejiang Banking
School was a national
key secondary polytechnic established in 1975. It was upgraded to a senior
professional college in June 2000.
In 2003, the
College was appraised as the Top School for Training Senior Professionals, the first
one in Zhejiang
Province to win such an
honor. Subsequently, it has been awarded a succession of honorary titles for
its excellent performance, such as National Advanced Institution of Financial
Vocational Education, Advanced Vocational Education Institution, etc.
December of 2006
saw a historic leap forward of the College. It was officially entered into
the first-phase list of National Exemplary Professional Colleges by the
Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Finance. All Exemplary Colleges
will systematically carry out the National Exemplary Professional Colleges
Development Program under the guidance and support of the two ministries.
Located
in Hangzhou Xiasha Higher Education Park, the
College covers a land area of over 518 mu (34.5 hectares) and a floor
area of 120 000 square meters. It has instruments and equipment for teaching
and research worth RMB23.72 million yuan.
The
College has over 6 100 undergraduates, and nearly 400 faculty members
including doctors, masters, professors, associate professors, and specialized
teachers with professional expertise.
The
College comprises 6 departments and 1 division: Financial Department, Insurance
and Social Security Department, Accounting Department, International Business
Department, Information Technology Department, Business Management
Department, and Humanities and Social Sciences Division. They are responsible
for the teaching and research of 23 specialties including Financial
Management and Practice, Insurance Practice, Accounting, International Trade
Practice, Business English, Computer Information Management, etc. Among these
specialties, Insurance Practice is known as the key specialty of Zhejiang Province.
The
College boasts 7 top courses at national or provincial level, 38 on-campus
practice bases, and 112 off-campus practice bases. Among these on-campus
practice bases are 2 national experiment and practice bases and 1 provincial
exemplary workplace practice basis.
The
College has developed friendly relations and long-term cooperation with
institutions of higher learning overseas. Currently, it is undertaking the
Chinese-Australian Joint Program involving the two specialties: International
Business, and Investment and Financial Services.
The
College has been dedicating itself to serving the society ever since its
establishment. Now, it has a solely-owned company—Hangzhou Credit
Rating Co., Ltd., a holding company—Zhejiang Zhongcheng
Credit Rating Co., Ltd. as well as Zhejiang
Jinyuan Training Center.
These enterprises are the major showcases of Zhejiang Financial
Professional College
through which it can cater to the various needs of the financial industry in
particular and the society at large.
Zhejiang Financial
Professional College has long identified and
consistently pursued the development goals—utilize
the strengths of the financial industry, expand the market persistently,
promote the economic development of Zhejiang
Province, and take the lead in
financial education of China.
The College has always adhered to the management guideline of
“developing employment-oriented school, improving school by services
and prospering school through cooperation”.
The College has
created a cooperative educational mode involving the industries concerned,
alumni and enterprise groups. It has put into practice the student-focused
education and service system, i.e. caring for the students’ progress,
attaching importance to the students’ difficulties and showing concern
for the students’ employment. It has constantly striven to ensure that
teaching is pertinent to reality or practice, teachers have smooth
communication with students and every student can be competent for work upon
graduation.
A staff-focused
personnel management and service system has been practiced throughout the
College. Both the management and faculty are making joint efforts to educate
the students, promote its development, and prosper the great cause of
education. The College has further improved its strengths and enhanced its
quality-based management, and made remarkable achievements in teaching,
research and social service.
Ever since the founding, the College has provided a large
number of professionals for the economic development in Zhejiang.
Hence, it has earned a reputation as the “West Point” in
the financial industry of Zhejiang Province, which shows the pivotal role of the
College in Zhejiang and the rest of China.
